The Greening with age campaign is a deliberate effort by MAZIDO,to encourage the youth and children in Primary, Secondary and Youth Polytechnics to take up the challenge of tree planting. The campaign is designed in such a manner as to entice the young people to entrench the culture of tree planting by planting trees to mark birthdays. It has been noted that the tradition of celebrating birthdays as an annual event is catching up across the country and most especially among the youth and children. This provides a window of opportunity to introduce tree planting as an integral part of this tradition. This way a young person will at least plant a tree every year which due to the sentimental attachment will most likely be taken care of to maturity. Consequently, the youth will be expected to nurture their birthday plants and grow old with them. This way by the time one turns 35 years he/she will have grown a small woodlot. MAZIDO considers this as the most logical approach in entrenching the culture of environmental conservation among young people. As a starting point, MAZIDO will enlist 10 primary schools, 3 secondary schools and 3 youth polytechnics in Ronge’ Nyika, Mbololo and Ngolia Locations. The schools and polytechnics selected to participate in the campaign are;
